One benefit that can be attributed to a pandemic is that it gave the much-desired push to the tech industry with online education becoming the sole solution for the continuation of imparting knowledge to the millions of school and college-going students. But as the lock down imposed due to the pandemic is over, the industry has again started losing its sheen, with only top-notch platforms like e-Gurukul able to manage the same clout that they had during the pandemic. The success of DBMCI and e-Gurukul can be attributed to the exalted and charismatic leadership of the youngest scion of the Bhatia family and its current CEO Dr. Nachiket Bhatia. He is seen as one of the fastest-rising names in the Indian corporate galleries.

Named in Forbes India’s list of top 10 most Innovative CEOs in 2020, Nachiket has entered into an enormously competitive edtech space with app-based learning support platform e-Gurukul, for NEET undergraduate and post-graduate entrance examinations. There are only 90k seats nationwide for undergraduate programs and more than 18 Lac students appeared in NEET only in the year 2022, and there are a plethora of institutes catering to the same domain.

Being a doctor himself Nachiket understands the kind of pressure aspirants go through, along with the complete idea of the kind of preparation that is required to make the cut. During the pandemic, the competition became even tougher with disturbed schedules of NEET examinations. Several students from DBMCI e-Gurukul made it to the top 100 in NEET entrance results in recent years. 7 of the top 10 students were from DBMCI e-Gurukul in NEET PG entrance in 2021.

As the pandemic is over and students are returning to classrooms, there is skepticism around the feasibility of tech platforms like e-Gurukul. To this Nachiket responds “ We all knew and we all wanted the pandemic to get over. But our strategy was never meant only for the pandemic. We were not providing any quick-fix solution for that particular period. Infact, we entered in tech sector before COVID-19 originated. With our app-based learning, we aim to reach the last mile and leverage the advanced telecom technology to its best.

In a country like India, classroom coaching in expensive institutes is only possible for a handful of students with ample resources. We want to reach even those deserving students who might not be able to afford it. Moreover, app-based learning prevents these young brains from the undue stress of going from one institution to another, spending the entire day there, making it super-exhausting.” He further adds “The problem is not with tech or online education, the problem arises when the quality of education and performance tracking system is not at par with classroom education.”

In e-gurukul Nachiket has made sure to bring the best faculty on board with super-quality education material along with a quick and efficient performance tracking system aided with the latest technology. Nachiket Bhatia has also launched DR Bhatia Scholarship Fund, to help further democratize access to the medical profession. He even provided a scholarship worth Rs. 2.5 crore for the students who lost their parents due to COVID The e-Gurukul app has been featured in Forbes India as the Leading Edtech of Medical Studies. e-Gurukul has been awarded as the Best Medical Coaching Institute by National Education Brilliance Awards in 2022.

For his trailblazing idea, inclusive approach to business and super-fast success Nachiket has been appreciated by one and all including the leading corporate platforms. He is named in Business Connect’s list of 30 Under 30. He is also honored by the Times of India by naming him in the list of Times 40 Under 40. But financial gains or recognition or awards were never his goal. He is working with undivided dedication to taking e-Gurukul to every deserving student and to make digital education the real long-term solution instead of being seen as a short-term gap-filling alternative.
