Dubai is known for its iconic architectural advancement. The cosmopolitan city hosts a few of the landmark architectures of the century including Burj Khalifa and Burj-Al-Arab. Now Dubai-based architecture firm Znera Space has proposed a new type of contemporary symbol for the city: A giant ring dubbed as Downtown Circle around Burj Khalifa. This continuous metropolis would be a green and natural landmark for the city.
What’s On The Offering?
The project is going to be an exemplary example of Dubai’s architectural advancement in the world. It features installing a giant ring-like structure of 550 meters in length around the world’s tallest free-standing structure. It will completely change the world’s perception of gated communities. The state-of-the-art ring-like structure is going to be sustainable and self-sufficient.
The illustrations show the striking scale of the structure, which is expected to encompass all of Downtown Dubai with a circumference of three kilometers. The ring would be built of smaller units, that have residential, commercial, and cultural spaces. The project offers a variety of office and housing typologies, from large offices and living/working units to lofts, townhouses, and terraced houses.
Downtown Circle is made up of five levels, that would be supported by 5 pillars embedded into the ground. The massive span of the circle would be composed of two main rings. These rings would be held together by a continuous green belt named the Skypark, which vertically connects the floors. This will create a 3-d ecosystem.
